Because getting married in a gown from a wedding collection is too mainstream, I made a list of 30 most beautiful looks from Fall 2014 Couture Week that is worthy of the aisle.
As the couture collections get closer to casual daywear (with sneakers and biker shorts and all) and brides getting more open minded about alternative wedding gown options, I find couture runways much more inspirational instead of bridal catalogues. The problem with couture though is how unattainable it is and the design factor makes it almost impossible to “reinterpret” in a tasteful way but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t adopt some of the trends to your look.
Some of the things I definitely would have considered had I been getting married soon are 1) the cape look (as seen in Giambattista Valli, Elie Saab, Ralph & Russi and Zuhair Murad) 2) one shoulder detail which may make you regret the choice couple of years later but still.. (as seen in Alexandre Vauthier, Zuhair Murad and Versace) and 3) classic 50’s Dior skirt with a minimal tank top look (as seen in, well, Dior). Oh and the Brigitte Bardot shoulders of course, which lately is my favorite!
