When I first heard about this year’s MET exhibition (and therefore, gala) theme, I was genuinely afraid. “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” calls for a lot of misinterpretation or worse, a lot of taking things literally and dressing up like a robot (there are always a few who do this every single year and this year the award went to Zayn Malik, who, with those tin robot arms over his suit seriously looked like the tag-along friend of Gigi Hadid) so my hopes weren’t too high. And actually the first half hour or so was hinting at one of the most disappointing MET Galas ever, then there started to be a glimmer of hope with Alexa Chung, then Kendall Jenner, then Kate Bosworth, Naomi Campbell, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Zendaya, HAIM, Ciara and just when I was already pleasantly fulfilled, entered Beyonce. She was a dream in her floral embellished latex Givenchy gown, straight hair and black eyes, it was the most stylish she ever was on a red carpet and she totally nailed the theme in a subtle, fashionable and creative way.
Besides Beyonce, here are my picks for the 30 best looks from the night (and all the other looks at the end of the post, because I can’t help myself but share everything).
